AMP Tokyo gallery in Koenji, Tokyo, opens tomorrow Ton/Ton Game Over, a new exhibition by contemporary artist Abdul Vas. In this solo presentation, irreverent and a declared fanatic of AC/DC is centered on American trucks.
Vas has a fixation, or several to highlight… AC/DC, trucks, and anal sex. Although his trucks seam to be completely harmless… and according to Vas, “they simply define the sexual condition in each one of us”. Which in his case its clearly nourished by AC/DC, as its the artist’s musical and sexual governor of his inner and outer being, enabling him to escape himself, and travel to different galaxies.
In Ton/Ton Game Over Abdul Vas explores the meaning of sexual behaviors, relationships, fantasies, disappointments, friendships, beliefs, love, attitudes and many other things, things that may not or cannot always be revealed. Vas’ trucks are in no terms mean machines, they simply have a different type of sexuality and way of operating. And as in all Vas' oeuvre this is also an offering for his idols, 'gods' of AC/DC.
From all his fixations and obsessions, Adbul Vas has grown very fond of Japan; a country that for he believes “symbolizes perfection”. He’s in lust / love with the local’s curiosity for art and fashion and how they appreciate rock and roll. Tokyo seams to blow his mind each and every time he returns and he hopes to continue visiting it…
So if you’re in Tokyo and would like to check out Adbul Vas’ exhibit, don’t miss out! Ton/Ton Game Over will be on view at the AMP Tokyo from 14th until the 20th of November. If you can, pop by for the opening reception this friday, 14th of November, starting at 5pm onwards.
