Menswear label FUTURA owned by Creative Director Anne Bosman (1988) and Managing Director Tom Renema (1990) wants to compete with established denim brands. First launched in 1984 as an underground t-shirt label, the Amsterdam based brand was picked up by many early followers, and became an influence in the emerging Dutch dance/part scene, however this trend faded away and FUTURA followed suit.
The revived FUTURA brings a strong, clean and minimalist appeal, often attributed to renown Dutch designers. By blending fashion with denim, FUTURA aims to create a futuristic look for the modern man. With a focus on using top notch materials such as Japanese denim, organic cotton and other durable fabrics, all combined with the expertise and quality of European manufacturing.
FUTURA’s first SS15 offering titled ‘Plane Bikers’, now available at WeAreSelecters Stores, reached both national and international publicity in fashion related magazines and blogs. On January of 2015, the label presented its AW15 collection at Modefabriek Expo.
During their research for the new AW15 collection, ‘Back to the sign’, Bosman and Renema, came across FUTURA’s logos used back in the late 80s. According to the partners, the old logo had a look and feeling which could easily represent their entire new ensemble. All characteristics relate to the same era as this logo: the silhouette, prints, the actual photo shoot, and the Dutch rock n’roll vibe. The new AW15 will hit the Stores later on in the year…
