Meshit’s Spring/ Summer 2016 collection is inspired by two dance movements from the 1970s; the British “Northern Soul Movement” and the “American Disco Scene”.
The collection was specially influenced by the dancers from the legendary TV show: “Soul-train”. The overlapping point of both scenes was soul music. Whilst the British youth went out to forget their hard working life, the dancers of “Soul-train” performed their best dance moves in outstanding outfits to distinguish themselves.
These two movements rise again in colorful and loose outfits in Meshit's collection for the upcoming SS16 season; wide trousers, full circle skirts, overalls, loose dresses and sports tank tops bring back the feeling and mood of bygone days. To complete the range, the offering presents also straight cut coats and typical slipovers with knitted cuffs.
Flexibility is a big issue when it comes to dancing, so wide cuts and the application of elastic and soft cloths was an essential topic. Contrasting to soft poplin and flowing fabrics there are rough textiles like corduroy, twills and Alcantara making reference to the origin of the “Northern Soul Movement” among the English working class.
The collection includes two specific textile prints. The denim fabric was scanned and newly arranged to create a modern patchwork style. The color range includes classic shades of blue, beige, white and olive as well as bright yellow and mustard.
SS16 will hit the Stores early next year, until then shop Meshit's previous collections available in our STORES.
