Originally from Amuka, a village in the midst of the forests in the north of Israel, son of a metal worker and painter, Hed Mayner started at the tender age of 16 to sow his own patterns and garments.

Mayner attended the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design for 4 years before moving to Paris to enroll at the L'Institut Français de la Mode where he took up fashion design. Soon after, he dropped school and went back to his homeland. In Jerusalem, Mayner found many different ideas, ... those of vulnerability, tradition, power and nobility. This pushed him to start up his own fashion label.

Hed Mayner’s eponymous label is a blend of good fabrics and sharp techniques. The idea of luxury comes from tailoring, Jewish tailoring, which according to Mayner is more about wrapping the body rather than shaping it.
