There is lucky, and then there is Dragon Link lucky. This past week, a player at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek won a $1 million progressive jackpot on Dragon Link. The Aristocrat Gaming slot machine has produced a string of million-dollar wins this year.
Online gambling is not permitted in Florida yet, which probably won’t change anytime soon. For now, gambling is only permitted at Florida casinos and pari-mutuels.
The 2021 gaming compact’s main attraction was the legalization of sports betting in Florida. However, the ownership group of two pari-mutuels filed a federal lawsuit over the agreement. As a result, the compact is tied up in the court system for the foreseeable future.
The press release from Coconut Creek said the winner had placed a $25 bet.
“One lucky winner hit a grand jackpot of over $1 million with a $25 bet at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. The guest was playing the Aristocrat Dragon Link Golden Century slot machine on Wednesday, Aug. 24 when they won $1,099,858.79.”
The game is available for play in Florida at Seminole Tribe’s casino locations in Coconut Creek, Tampa and Hollywood.
Dragon Link surrenders 8 million-dollar wins in 8 months
The big win at Coconut Creek is the third $1 million progressive jackpot from Dragon Link. It was the eighth progressive jackpot win of at least $1 million from a Dragon Link in the past eight months.
- In May, a player took down a $1.3 million jackpot at Hard Rock Tampa. It was the third such jackpot at the casino this year.
- In late January, a Sunrise resident hit a $1.3 million jackpot on a $250 bet. At the time, it was the fourth Dragon Link millionaire win in the past 60 days.
- A gambler named Gloria hit two $1 million jackpots over 18 days in late December and early January.
Progressive wins are based on a jackpot that increases in small increments each time someone plays the game. Many times, multiple machines are linked to the jackpot to keep the total inching upward. When a lucky winner hits the jackpot, they take home the running total and the total starts over.
Dragon Link’s $1 million progressive machines launched in June 2021. At the time, Seminole casinos had more than 220 Dragon Link games. However, none offered the million-dollar progressive win, said Seminole Gaming Chief Operating Officer David Hoenemeyer.
“This is a first of its kind for this game, and we are proud to offer a life-changing $1 million dollar progressive jackpot payable on the spot.”
Dallas Storm progressive added in June
This past June, Seminole Gaming and Aristocrat announced the launch of another million-dollar progressive slot game called “Dollar Storm.”
Like Dragon Link, the cabinet of slots offers players a chance at a $1 million progressive prize, according to Jon Hanlin, senior vice president of commercial strategy and business analytics of Aristocrat Gaming.
“We are ecstatic to debut the new $1 million progressive jackpot on Dollar Storm with Seminole Gaming. The addition of this game to both of these casino floors is another example of how Aristocrat continues to bring engaging high-limit content to slot players.”
Seminole Gaming has yet to announce any Dollar Storm progressive winners.
