Las Vegas-based Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino has appointed Andrew Economon as its new General Manager.
The hospitality veteran will oversee all vital hotel operations and Downtown Grand’s continued expansion.
Economon joined the company in June this year from the Hard Rock International Hotel & Casino in Sacramento as Vice President of Hospitality. Before his time at Downtown Grand, he gained experience from Las Vegas, St. Louis, San Antonio, and cities in California, to countries such as Spain and Greece.
He is a graduate of University of Houston’s Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, as well as The Culinary Institute of America. Economon will help guide Downtown Grand’s expansion in the culinary space with the additions of Hot N’ Juicy and Yama Sushi, which will open this autumn and early next year respectively.
“Economon’s industry experience spans over 20 years in executive positions around the globe, with exceptional success in food and beverage, entertainment, gaming operations, property development and management, all of which Downtown Grand is known for,” a statement from the company read.
Downtown Grand added that Economon is active in the community, serving on various boards to support school districts and foundations along with the Chambers of Commerce. He was previously a board member of the Epicurean Charitable Foundation.
“I couldn’t be happier with my decision to join Downtown Grand and am truly humbled that I was asked to lead this outstanding team,” said Economon. “I look forward to all that we will accomplish through the end of this year and all that is to come in 2023 and beyond.”
