Churchill Downs Racetrack is keeping one eye on the modernisation of its payments technology via a partnership with Venuetize.
The mobile product, available on both Apple and Android, covers ticketing, maps, wayfinding and various other customer-facing functions; something Churchill Downs can now incorporate via the new agreement.
Venuetize offers a mobile wallet and specialises in mobile experiences for guests, sports fans and bettors alike.
The partnership contributes to the ongoing trend towards digitalisation and cashless payments within both gaming and wider US society.
Jon Romm, Venuetize CEO and Founder, said: “We continue to extend our capabilities to support premier clients, like Churchill Downs Racetrack and their guests.
“Together, through a strong partnership and continued innovation, we’ll redefine the horseracing guest experience and exemplify the bridge between sports, entertainment and gamification at next year’s marquee race, The Kentucky Derby.”
Meanwhile, Casey Ramage, VP of Marketing, Brand and Partnerships at Churchill Downs Racetrack, added: “Churchill Downs is constantly looking for opportunities to improve the technology experience for our fans and guests.
“Through this partnership with Venuetize, we will engage our Kentucky Derby and Churchill Downs fans with our thrilling racing year-round.”
Last month, CDI also agreed to sell 49% of United Tote to the New York Racing Association.
Both pieces of news followed Q2 revenue of $582.5m for Churchill Downs, which also saw record handle for the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs Racetrack.
