Continent 8 Technologies is likely on cloud nine after receiving an approval from Michigan’s Gaming Control Board (MGCB).

The group’s “Gaming Cloud” solution has been cleared for launch in the Great Lake State.

This solution is a public or community cloud that offers a IaaS platform, allowing customers to host infrastructure, containers, data and network edge services.

Alongside Michigan, it is currently available in several other North American jurisdictions, including New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Michigan regulations require the necessary hardware be located at primary and backup sites in-state, while all Gaming Cloud “tenants” must be licensed by the MGCB.

“Achieving approval from the Michigan Gaming Control Board for our Gaming Community Cloud is an important strategic development for Continent 8, as demand for secure and compliant cloud solutions continues to rise,” said Justin Cosnett, Chief Product Officer at Continent 8.

“We understand the power of the first-mover, pay-as-you-grow advantage in such highly competitive states and markets, and strive to offer this to our customers.”

Continent 8 is currently live in 24 US jurisdictions, and expects to launch additional sites in the coming months. Elsewhere, the group recently signed a five-year contract with the Government of Gibraltar.

But regarding Continent 8’s latest market entry, Innovation Director David Brace said: “We are proud to be the first service provider to offer this regulated community cloud solution in the state.

“In terms of infrastructure, cloud offers fast market entry, especially for new licensees, as well as backup or migration capability for those already invested into the state looking to move away from costly hardware investment in a time of supply chain challenges.”

In other news, Gambling Insider recently interviewed Cosnett about Continent 8’s Gaming Exchange.
