The Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) has held its 78th Annual General Meeting (AGM), in which President Charlie Parker and VP Alan Spence’s nominations to the board were approved.

All five resolutions put before the AGM were approved by the assembled members of the ROA, which held a tribute to Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II prior to the start of the meeting.

The AGM also saw Khalid Almudhaf, Charlie Liverton, Ken McGarrity and Chris Wright CBE all co-opted to the Board as Directors; while Tom Groff, Mark Albion and Charles Walker were all also elected by the Racehorse Owners Association.

Upon being appointed to the board, Albion commented: “I look forward to joining the board of the ROA and being your representative, challenging the decisions being made on the key issues facing all owners.”

Meanwhile, Walker added: “There have always been critical times for the racing industry and owners, but this really does feel a particularly pivotal time. The pressures on all sides of the industry are enormous and, while they may not get any easier any time soon, I will use my position as your representative to try to be a catalyst for the changes that are desperately needed to ensure owners’ views are heard.

After the AGM, Parker, President of the ROA, said in a statement: “Despite a challenging macroeconomic and industry backdrop, the ROA continues to deliver steady progress on the issues that matter most for members. At an industry level, the ROA remains at the forefront of the big conversations with our stakeholder partners.
